Linwood School is a day special school located close to the centre of Bournemouth. We welcome pupils from a wide geographical area and support a comprehensive range of Special Educational Needs (SEN). Linwood is an all age special school and is recognised in the field of special needs (Ofsted 2013. The school has 260 pupils on roll aged 3-19 years. The school has many facilities with some classrooms, sensory rooms and a swimming pool. Springwood, Linwood's specialist, purpose built campus for pupils with autism opened in January 2014. It provides an autism friendly environment for pupils aged 4-19 years. Springwood also has provision for 18 pupils with Asperger syndrome aged 7-16 years. These pupils have normally developing cognitive ability with high anxiety and sensory issues. Springwood has facilities including soft play, sensory room, multi-sensory learning environment and a variety of outdoor play spaces. Summerwood College is the school's 16-19 provision for students with Asperger syndrome. Linwood also has Classroom in the Heart of Industry (CHI) based in a local hotel providing on site education and training for the hospitality industry for students aged 16-19 years.
