Little Heath is a special school which caters for a range of special needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It is a day school with 140 pupils aged 11-19. There are mixed delivery models ranging from pupils having lessons delivered by subject specialists, to a more nurtured approach where delivery is more by one teacher, to a specialist Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped CHildren (TEACCH) format. Pupils with ASD are put into a curriculum model that best suits their needs. Pupils are entered for a range of accreditation from some General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSEs) to entry level certificates. They can also study for 3 Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) awards. Little Heath is well provided for in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) terms and has wide links within the local community and other schools. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils.
