The Liverpool Asperger Team are a team of professionals who provide a specialist service for people aged 18 years and over with Asperger syndrome, adopting a person-centred approach and using creative and innovative interventions to assist the individual with the social and communication barriers that they may face in everyday life. The team offers assessment and diagnosis of Asperger syndrome, together with clinical interventions based on the needs of the individual. The team also offers training and advice to other agencies about Asperger syndrome.
Assessment procedure: Initial collection of information, Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders (DISCO), psychometric assessment by clinical psychologist.
Follow up service: Yes, for people who are resident in Liverpool.
Multi-disciplinary assessment: Yes, professions involved: clinical psychology, psychiatry, speech and language therapy, nursing and social work.
