Living With Autism Ltd
Main information
Type of service: Residential services
Haddon House is a purpose built residential service specifically designed to provide an autism friendly environment, located in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. We have designed four units offering a responsive and nurturing setting, supporting adults right across the autism spectrum. All resident bedrooms have en suite wet rooms, and are fully furnished. The service has a lounge, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. In addition the service has a consultation/resource room, a garden and a games room for use by the residents. We support residents with a variety of opportunities, from learning life skills to social interaction and physical activities. We are able to access service and support from other providers including general medical practitioners, local hospital services, speech therapists, community based health services as well as local colleges. For those seeking an eventual move to independent living, we have a self-contained training flat where a level of independence can be achieved within the safety of the overall service. We deploy a range of strategies proven successful with individuals with autism including Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication-Handicapped Children (TEACCH), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), augmented communication, in order to assist us in supporting our residents to be equipped for modern life. Our staff team have a wealth of experience living and working with adults with autism and are continually following our ongoing autism training programme. By supporting residents with their whole life we can help them achieve their goals and reach their outcomes and work towards minimising moments of difficulty, stress or intervention.
