Llangynwyd Primary School
Main information
Type of service: Day schools, Schools
The school has a Communication Disorders Resource Base which currently has 19 children (9 Key Stage 1 (KS1) and 10 KS2). The base is split into two classes which range from 3-7 years and 7-11 years old. Some of the children in both sections of the Base have an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) diagnosis but the other children do not. These other children have a variety of communication disorders such as phonological disorders and selective mutism. All children in the Base integrate with mainstream classes where relevant but receive specialised programmes within the Base. The amount of integration depends upon the needs and abilities of each child. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. We see part of our role as giving support to other schools in the authority through advice and sometimes direct training. We receive and help to train a wide range of students such as nursing students and care students. The amount of pupils in the 2 classes does vary by one or two pupils.
