The service provides a multi-disciplinary diagnostic service for children in Lancaster and Morecambe of pre-school age with delayed development.
Assessment procedure: Home visit by member of team to collect more information and observe, report from nursery or playgroup if they are attending one, clinic visit with paediatrician. Overview of development and investigations if necessary, multi disciplinary assessment in own nursery or at centre with case conference to assess diagnosis and management plan.
Follow up service: Yes, follow up with paediatrician. Educational psychologist arranges educational support as required. Speech and language therapy.
Multi-disciplinary assessment: Yes, professions involved: paediatrics, speech and language therapy, educational psychology, nursery official, physiotherapy and occupational therapy where necessary.
