Magic Moments for Autistic Kids
Main information
Type of service: Play and leisure, Respite and short breaks
Magic Moments was established in 2002 to help and support families affected by autism and related disorders. We offer a range of services for the young people including a youth club every Thursday night and a movie room where the young people can sit and watch some of their favourite films. During the school holidays the youth club is available to the young people along with a number of activities around sport, health and well being. Our latest project is the small cafe we have set up within our building. This is designed to provide our young people with Asperger Syndrome with employment , build their confidence, improve their social skills and interaction skills within the community. Magic Moments has purchased two caravans at a site in Skegness to enable our service users to enjoy a holiday or for emergency respite. Alongside this we provide holidays of a lifetime to families affected by autism, to allow the families to have a taste of normality. We also have a trained swimming instructor to allow the young people to take part in all water sports. The organisation employs five young people with Asperger Syndrome and also accepts volunteers.
