Pupils are educated in small autism spectrum disorder (ASD) class groups (6 pupils) with 3 adults. Pupils participate in the life of the whole school in assemblies, play and lunchtimes and in some specific curriculum areas, with support. Wider inclusion is provided for pupils on an individual basis as their needs change over time. The day is highly structured supported by the use of Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped CHildren (TEACCH) principles. The National Curriculum National Curriculum is followed and scaffolded to the pupils' levels of ability. Social outings are planned as weekly activities. Communication needs are met through the use of makaton and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).
