Main information
Type of service: Interventions and therapies
Gail McGregor is an Art Psychoterapist. Her mission is to offer Creative Interventions or Art Therapy to vulnerable individuals within the East Midlands. Her goal is to promote self esteem, group dynamics, motivation, self worth and empowerment through the use of Art. Creative Intervention can change the life of vulnerable individuals. It can give them the skills and knowledge to help enhance their existing programme of activities, as well as improve their wellbeing or develop their interest in art. Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of communication. It is practised by qualified, registered Art Therapists who work with children, young people, adults and the elderly. Clients who can use art therapy may have a wide range of difficulties, disabilities or diagnoses. These include, for example, emotional, behavioral or mental health problems, learning or physical disabilities, life-limiting conditions, brain-injury or neurological conditions and physical illness. Art therapy may be provided for groups, or for individuals, depending on clients' needs. It is not a recreational activity or an art lesson, although the sessions can be enjoyable. Clients do not need to have any previous experience or expertise in art. Gail McGregor is able to make home visits, visit a client's nursery, school or college, provide independent expert reports and attend tribunals/educational appeal committees.
