Mossbourne Community Academy provides a resourced provision for 15 pupils with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) (3 in each year group). Pupils are included in all aspects of school life giving them the maximum possible opportunity for education. Specialist teaching and speech and language therapy is provided to help develop pupils communication, social skills and life skills. Pupils are included in classes with support. They complete the same tasks as classmates or similar tasks designed to match their ability. Pupils may also work in small groups with the specialist teacher or speech and language therapist to meet the targets of their statements and Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. We have an autism resource provision from 16-18 years called the Joybourne Centre.
