Type of service: Interventions and therapies

Play therapy services for children with autism or who are on the autistic spectrum. Initial assessment with parents (and teachers where required) allowing objectives of therapy to be agreed, followed by a review after completion of 8-12 sessions using Goodmans Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQs). The therapy is non-directive, child centred, based on the work of Axline and uses art, sandworlds, claywork, music, therapeutic storytelling, dramatherapy, creative visualisation and movement. Jane is a Practitioner in Therapeutic Play and belongs to the professional body PTUK.

Age: From age 3 to 17
