The NAS Robert Ogden School aims to provide that each child: will receive teaching of the highest quality which includes autism-specific techniques; learn in an appropriately safe and stimulating environment; be encouraged to aim for high standards in their own learning and achievement; benefit from good communication between home and school; learn good behaviour and attitudes so that they can make a positive contribution to school life; study a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum; learn in a caring and cared for environment; be given support in their learning at all times; and be part of a healthy school. We further aim to teach our children the skills they need to live as independently as possible in the future. Older students will have their own bank account, learn to travel on public transport, look after the home, shop and budget. The teaching staff is supported by a Senior Educational Psychologist, Assistant Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapists, Behaviour Coordinators, and Occupational Therapist. The school seeks to offer all children an environment in which they can expect to have their values and views respected and listened to. The school uses the Structure, Positive approaches and expectations, Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL) framework. Parents are welcomed to participate in the education of their child, and links with parents are reviewed regularly. Volunteers may be accepted. Our residential services include 52 week, termly, 38 week and short breaks - both term time and in the holidays..
