Ness Soaps was founded in 2006 by a group of local people from the Merkinch Community in Inverness. Our mission is twofold - to make quality, locally produced hand crafted soaps and to offer opportunities to disadvantaged members of the community in a workplace environment. Since then Ness Soaps has grown and we now employ 2 full time and 1 part time staff and offer part time voluntary work placements to 19 adults who either have a learning or physical disability or who are long term unemployed. We offer opportunities for people to come and learn, develop their skills, work as part of a team and contribute something to the local community. Ness Soaps are part of Merkinch Development Ventures (MDV), a social enterprise set up to allow local people to take on the shared responsibility of creating employment opportunities, and developing their local community.
