Newbus Grange

Main information

Type of service: Hospital services

Newbus Grange is a 19-bed independent hospital providing specialist support and services for men on the autism spectrum with associated complex needs. Newbus Grange is situated in a quiet semi-rural location near Darlington in County Durham.

The service provides a safe and structured environment for the delivery of dedicated support for people with autism spectrum disorders. Treatment is well-evidenced, robust and flexible and the service can provide outcome-orientated packages for adults with autism and behaviours which challenge, some of whom have learning disabilities, and those who may or may not be detained under the Mental Health Act.

Particular attention is given to enable people to maintain high levels of privacy and independence in keeping with their cognitive abilities and adaptive skills. The service provides appropriate mental health assessment, intervention, and rehabilitation in a structure-specific environment.

We are available for planned and rapid access referral advice seven days a week. We also welcome visits from service users, carers/parents and professionals.
