Type of service: Training providers, Befriending/mentoring, Social groups, Social skills, Training providers
Next Steps is for young people and adults with learning disabilities aged 16+. The project works with individuals in a group setting to develop Life skills such as travel training, befriending, confidence building, money management, independence skills and making choices. The sessions are member lead and all activities are chosen by the members of Next Steps. Although the group is based at a Community Centre, they aim to provide as many of the activities as possible out in the community. There are presently two groups which run on a Thursday and Friday and an option to attend either a full day from 10-3.30 or half day from 10-1.00. Prices are £52 for a full day and £26 for a half day. Payments can be made through individual budgets, self funding, college funded or other methods. Next Steps are based at Orchard Park Community Centre, Central Avenue, Cambridge.
