North Staffs Special Adventure Playground

Main information

Type of service: Play and leisure

The North Staffs Special Adventure Playground is a purpose built complex designed to serve the needs of the local disabled community. The Playground is set in a two-acre site and offers a wide range of adventurous indoor and outdoor facilities, including an aerial runway, sculpture trail, extensive grass and hard areas for games and bikes, and an adventure trail. The play building has two large rooms, one of which houses a three-storey soft-play structure, and there are always arts and crafts activities available. On Saturdays, 1.30pm-4pm, the Playground runs family sessions. On weekdays during the school term, the Playground's facilities are used as part of the national curriculum for special educational establishments. During the school holidays, the Playground runs playschemes and family sessions, Easter playscheme running for two weeks and Summer Playscheme for five weeks. Every Saturday morning and every Sunday afternoon, the Playground runs club sessions for children and young people between 6 and 19 years of age. The Playground also runs weekly evening clubs. Junior Club (7 to 11 years) takes place on Wednesday evenings, Senior Club on Thursdays (11 to 15 years), Friday Club (15 to 19 years) and Friday Plus Club (19-25 years). On the last Friday of every month the Playground organises a disco for 15+ years.
