Type of service: Diagnostic services, Child Development Centres (CDC)
Community paediatric service for children and young people aged 0-19 in Northumberland. All paediaticians may see children for initial assessments in their locality. However Dr Mark Bagott covers most of the county for specialist clinics and sees children in "Joint Communication Clinics" with Norma Jackson, speech and language therapist. Dr Arpita Bhattacharya sees children in the west of the county with Janet Millington, speech and language therapist. Some children are referred to the Children and Young People's Service for further clarification, or to the regional service in Newcastle when required. Older children are referred to the local CAMHS team known as the Children and Young People's Service (CYPS).
Assessment procedure: One-to-one assessments in clinics which may involve taking the patient’s history, carrying out a clinical examination and further investigations if needed.
Multi-disciplinary assessment: Yes, paediatrics, speech therapy.
