Oakwood Court College provides a safe, nurturing and empowering environment in which young people with learning disabilities and associated emotional and/or social difficulties, can confidently complete the transition from adolescence into the adult world. The curriculum includes literacy and numeracy, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), arts and crafts, animal care, horticulture and catering. The College provides residential specialist educational and care provision for 40 young people aged 16 to 25 years. Students receive specialist help both within the establishment iteself and through other specialist support services. Referrals to the College are usually initiated by Connexions Officers, Local Education Authorities or Social Services. Placements are normally offered on a two year initial basis.
