Main information
Type of service: Residential services
A service for people with a learning disability, autism and challenging behaviour. The house is within walking distance of the town centre and is large and spacious with a quirky american diner themed kitchen. Bedrooms are large with ensuite bathing and toilet facilities. The house has a garden with fruit, vegetable and herb plots. There are leisure and recreational facilities nearby and the home has excellent transport links to London and the south coast. The service is able to support people who have moved from long stay hospitals and those whose placements have broken down by using intensive behavioural interventions and positive approaches. It has a skilled and experienced manager and staff and invests highly in training and staff support. People are encouraged to use local colleges, vocational college, further education and social clubs and are supported to form and maintain friendships. The home uses a person centred approach to ensure people access a range of personally relevant educational, recreational and leisure activities and opportunities. The house uses alternative communication methods to help people make choices. People go on holiday with 1:1 or 2:1 staff support as well as being able to enjoy day trips and visits to places of interest.
