A severe learning disabilities (SLD) school with residence which has evolved into having pupils with extreme challenging behaviour and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Unusually we continue to take profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) pupils. This "softens" the atmosphere. But in essence we have developed Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped CHildren (TEACCH) and Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP) principles and altered the environment timetable to include our new population, in a way that plays to their strengths. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils.
