Pictor School meets the needs of pupils aged 2-11 years with learning needs arising from autism. Pupils with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have access if necessary to discrete provision with a high level of staffing (2:5) with additional therapy time (speech and language therapy and physiotherapy/occupational therapy). They also have access to group work in mixed groups and/or placement with their peers who will have mild to moderate learning difficulties (MLD) arising from a range of conditions. Where appropriate, pupils have access to mainstream placements. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. The school uses the Structure, Positive (approaches and expectations), Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL) framework. Other interventions, approaches & programmes offered by the school are Signalong, parent workshops & support, and incredible years programme.
