Priory Coleg North Wales

Main information

Type of service: Assessment, Further & Higher Education, Outreach - education

Priory Coleg North Wales was established in 2011 in partnership with Yale College, Wrexham to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of young people aged 16 to 25 with Asperger syndrome. Students have ambitions to study, work and live in mainstream communities as self-reliant adults. With the help of key support workers the college supports students to achieve their learning goals, whilst helping them to grow as individuals, gaining confidence in their abilities and understanding the complexities of Asperger syndrome. This is achieved through tailored levels of support and guidance within mainstream college settings. Their vision is to be a centre of excellence which promotes a positive understanding of Asperger syndrome and enables students to recognise their potential for independence and success. From the outset students will be encouraged to make informed choices and decisions about their future. In partnership with Coleg Cambria our college offers a holistic communication, behavioural and transactional model of autism spectrum condition (ASC) specific support to young adults and their families.
