Project Lifesaver UK
Main information
Type of service: Suppliers of products
Project Lifesaver UK helps provide rapid response to save lives and reduce potential for serious injury for adults and children who wander due to Alzheimer's, autism, Down syndrome, dementia and other related cognitive conditions. Project Lifesaver is based upon a small personalised radio transmitter which is worn by the person in need of protection. It can be worn around the wrist or ankle and emits a personalised tracking signal which is picked up by the Project Lifesaver team utilising a radio frequency receiver. As soon as a family member or caregiver notifies Project Lifesaver that someone is missing, their team can move swiftly into action, tracking the signal on the ground or in the air over several miles. Recovery times for individuals in the Project Lifesaver program averages 30 minutes (US), compared to nine hours for individuals without the tracking system. To date Project Lifesaver's success rate is 100%.
