Prospect Bank is a primary school with six classes, catering for the needs of pupils with learning disabilities and complex needs. There is an autism specific class as well as pupils with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) throughout the school. The school is a modern purpose built accommodation close to shops and Leith Links. Teaching staff and support staff liaise closely with parents, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, medical and social work colleagues in meeting the wide range of pupil needs. Curriculum for Excellence provides the framework with a strong emphasis on developing skills for learning, life and work. Class groups have a maximum of 10 pupils supported by a teacher and support staff. Pupils generally attend the school until the age of 12 when they transfer to secondary school. Volunteers to work with the pupils may be accepted.
