Rainbow Rogues
Main information
Type of service: Play and leisure, Local groups
Rainbow Rogues first started in 2005 as part of Surestart in Aberdeenshire. The group was set up to support families who have very young children with a disability or additional support need. The child does not need to have a diagnosis to come to the group and families are welcome to refer themselves, or come to us through a referral made by a GP, Health Visitor Social Worker or other professional. The purpose of the group is to support both the child and the family through the early years, giving them the best possible start in life. Research has shown that the earlier the intervention, the better the outcome for children. As they move on to playgroup, nursery or school, Rainbow Rogues can help each child achieve their own potential and prepare them for the next stage of learning.
Brothers and sisters who are pre school age are also welcome to attend. There is no cost to families. The group is now an independent organisation funded by grants and donations. Rainbow Rogues has its own constitution, policies and procedures. We are members of Early Years Scotland and Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action. All staff and volunteers are checked through PVG system.
