Type of service: Diagnostic services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)
CAMHS can give support and professional advice for under 18s, provide weekly appointments to talk about issues, suggest different types of therapy to explore mental health, work one-to-one or with carers and parents. The majority of referrals for are recieved from GPs. The service offers assessment and/or treatment for children and young people suffering from significant emotional, behavioural, relationship and developmental difficulties (including social communication conditions such as Asperger syndrome and autism) which have a big impact on their lives and require specialist intervention.
