Respond specialises in providing a counselling service for people with learning disabilities affected by trauma and/or sexual abuse (victims and perpetrators), and works with families, carers and professionals who are working with them. It provides mainly long-term psychotherapy lasting for a minimum of 1 year, treatment usually lasts for an average of 2-3 years. Respond specialises in providing treatment for offenders with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and those that display worrying sexualised behaviours such as exhibitionism, fetishism and inappropriate touching. Respond can also help parents and carers to explore the reasons behind such behaviours. They provide a Risk Assessment service that provides assessment of risk and vulnerability and makes detailed recommendations for supervision, risk management and treatment.
