RNIB College Loughborough
Main information
Type of service: Further & Higher Education
RNIB College Loughborough supports people with sight loss and other disabilities to access education, work and housing, to enjoy a healthy lifestyle and positive relationships. The college offers further education courses for learners aged 16 to 25 looking to complete their initial education. It also offers adult employment programmes for learners aged 18 to 63 looking to enter or stay in employment. The College currently has four in-house enterprises: the College shop and Ebay shop, the College canteen, the College office, the College Arts Centre. The Bridge programme is designed for learners who have finished their education and want to focus on moving into independent or supported living. Young people live in our accommodation and access College facilities and activities. The Stan Bell Centre provides modern, purpose built accommodation for learners. Learners are encouraged to be as independent as possible. However we recognise that many people will need care support. The residencies are staffed 24 hours a day. Support can be provided to learners to assist with their personal care, to help with daily tasks such as cooking meals, mobility to access the community, support to take part in the extended curriculum, taking medication, managing money and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The college can also support learners on mainstream programmes at Loughborough College.
