Roman Fields
Main information
Type of service: Day schools, Schools
Roman Fields provision provides individual and personalised education packages for young people of age 10 to 18 with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD)/autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The majority of our young people have a statement of special educational needs (SEN). Referred young people are not thriving in their current educational setting, have a fragmented educational history, are at risk of permanent exclusion or have already been permanently excluded. For some young people, the provision is part of a transition package or a short term placement pending further assessment. For others it is a potential permanent solution to their educational needs. Programmes are established by the Special Educational Needs CO-ordinator (SENCO) and senior teacher in consultation with the referring officer, parents/carers and the young person. The provision is based on a site used by other community groups. Partnership working and collaboration are prominent features of the Roman Fields approach to improving life chances for young people. Roman Fields works closely with the following agencies/professionals: educational psychologists, children looked after teams, youth offending teams, child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS), Connexions and Herts careers service, specialist adolescent teams, attendance improvement teams. Our buildings and grounds provide a welcoming environment for all our young people and many visitors. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. Short breaks are just for their own pupils.
