Roman House supports adults (18-65) with complex needs to become significantly more independent and confident at home and in the community.The service supports individuals with the following needs:
• Learning disabilities
• Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
• Mental Health Issues
• Challenging behaviour
• Stepping down from secure units and hospitals
• May have experienced previous placement breakdown.
Roman House is part of a 3-tiered service model which provides individuals with a complete Transition Care Pathway from registered residential to supported living services on the same site, with the aim to move onto more independent living in the community over time. For individuals with ASD and complex needs, this care pathway creates a balance between familiarity and new and decreases anxieties around change to enable smooth and successful transitions.Roman House is a bespoke and spacious residential service designed to support 6 individuals with ASD, learning disabilities, mental health issues and challenging behaviour to develop the skills and confidence necessary to lead a life of greater independence and choice. Roman House consists of 6 autism friendly ground floor flats alongside a variety of communal areas. The flat options provide variety to meet individual needs, including flats with and without kitchens. All flats include bedroom, living room and ensuite facilities. Four of the flats provide separate entrances in addition to main entrance access and separate gardens for individuals who may at times find it difficult to integrate with others or whose behaviour may at times affect others.The communal inside areas include large living room, large dining room and sensory/activity room all with high ceilings and low arousal finishes and furnishings. All individuals also have access to the spacious communal sensory garden including:
• Hot tub
• Sunken Trampoline
• Double Swing
• Individual sensory, flower beds and allotment area.
