Rossmar is a co-educational controlled school which caters for pupils with moderate and severe learning difficulties. Many of the pupils have conditions including autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The school teaches pupils with ASD from 3-19 years in mixed ability classes, age appropriately, promoting inclusion and engages in activities with local mainstream schools. A range of strategies are used to meet the individual pupils needs eg Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children (TEACCH), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). A parent support group meets weekly. Volunteers to work with pupils may be accepted.
