Rowan House is a modern, purpose-built 88-bedded medium secure independent hospital for adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour who are detained under the Mental Health Act. The Hospital, which opened in 2002, provides Medium Secure, Medium Secure High Dependency and StepDown services. It is situated on a 17-acre campus near the village of Buxton, eight miles north of Norwich, just off the A140. Patient accommodation is provided in six eight-bedded bungalows and four two-storey houses. Facilities on site include an extensive purpose-built Learning Centre, with 22 activity rooms, a large sports hall, fully- equipped gymnasium, as well as a hard surface all-weather play area and a range of horticultural and recreational amenities within the attractively landscaped grounds. The Hospital is registered with the Healthcare Commission and accepts patients aged between 18 and 60.
