Rumworth School for students with moderate learning difficulties (MLD). Within Rumworth School is specialist provision for students with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). There is a 6-place unit within the MLD school. Students use the ASD unit as a base but attend lessons with their peer groups. The types and amount of lessons attended depend on the individual and can be supported by a Learning Support Assistant (LSA). Strategies are introduced within the unit to help the students and these are continued when the students attend lessons within the mainstream of the school. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. The school uses the Structure, Positive (approaches and expectations), Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL) framework. Rumworth School - MLD with an 18 place provision for students on the autism spectrum.
