Great Ganett is a supported living service for young people with autism. The service supports people who may be coming from the family home, residential services or the college environment to learn the skills they need to be able to move on to a more independent living setting after Great Ganett.The service supports people to learn independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, washing and how to manage these tasks using a suitable timetable. People are supported to maintain links with family and friends and to socialise with existing and new people in their lives.
The staff team support people to access the local community, colleges, voluntary work and other work opportunities. The service has local links with voluntary organisations and is part of Saint John Of God Hospitaller Services who also provide residential services, day opportunities and a horticultural centre. All services provided are person centred, each person plays a vital role in putting together their own personal plan and in setting and reaching goals.
Every person who accesses the service will have a keyworker who will know and understand the key wants and needs of the person and will work along side the person to support them to reach the goals set. The service is registered with the Care Quality Commission.
People who use the service are supported to attend tenant meetings in which they have the opportunity to shape how their service is provided. Each person has a responsibiity to maintain the cleanliness of the house and are supported to work together with fellow housemates to ensure this is continued.
