Salford Action for Autism (SAFA)
Main information
Type of service: Local groups
Service URL: http://www.salford-action-for-autism.com
SAFA currently holds coffee mornings once a month which provide opportunities for parents and carers to meet, share ideas and support each other. The coffee mornings are very friendly and informal. We also have a small creche for children under 11 years old, so that parents / carers can come along with their children. Older children are also welcome to attend but must be supervised by their parents / carers. Salford Action for Autism also has a library which has 112 different book titles - all relating to autism and Asperger syndrome. As the group is run by volunteers who are parents of children with autism, we actively encourage other parents to get involved in the running of the group. To be a member of 'Salford Action for Autism' there is a £10 annual fee for which you will receive an Information Pack, regular updates about SAFA meetings, priority booking of places at all SAFA events and membership of the SAFA book and DVD library. This fee also helps towards the costs incurred in running and maintaining the support group. However, you can also attend meetings without becoming a member. If you wish to do this, we will ask you to complete a 'registration form' with your contact details. We also encourage you to make a donation towards refreshments at the meetings you attend.
