Sandelford School provides education for 146 pupils aged three to 19 years with statements of special educational needs. The catchment area extends across a radius of 15 miles from Coleraine. The school is purpose built and has recently been refurbished to provide high quality additional accommodation and resources for the older pupils. The Dolphins Class cater for pupils including those with an autistic spectrum disorder usually aged 5 to 10 years for approximately 2 years. Dolphins Class is run in TEACCH principles with structured teaching, use of consistent classroom routines and visual strategies underpinning the work. Volunteers to work with the pupils may be accepted. The school uses the basic principles of SPELL. Other interventions offered by the school are horse riding, golf lessons, bowling and NVQ classes at the local College of Further Education.
