The school meets the needs of pupils with severe learning difficulties (SLD) and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) including autism. Currently over 30% of pupils have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Pupils with ASD are pastorally based in mixed Key Stage groups, and for their taught curriculum some learning takes place in their pastoral group and some in specific needs based groups. There is provision for pupils who require 1 to 1 support for education and acre, and the school provides access to specific programmes, such as sensory integration and Picture Exchange communication System (PECS) to support pupils learning.
