Dr Scott endeavours to meet the child and the family and explain the diagnostic process. She asks the family to collate as much information and reports from individuals working with their child as possible and then arrange a date to conduct The Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders (DISCO) interview with the parent(s) or guardian. She will then feedback her findings to the family.
Assessment procedure: I endeavour to meet the child and the family and explain the diagnostic process. I ask the family to collate as much information and reports from individuals working with their child as possible and then arrange a date to conduct The Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders (DISCO) interview with the parent(s) or guardian. I will then feedback to the family my findings.
Follow up service: I will offer to see the family again if they wish. Otherwise I try to give the family as much information as possible and suggest further referrals or avenues of support. This varies for each child.
Multi-disciplinary assessment: Yes - clinical psychology, educational psychology, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy. I request separate assessment by the above professionals as required.
