The National Diagnosis and Assessment Service for autism spectrum disorders (ASD) has been set up by Scottish Autism with funding from the Scottish Executive Health Department. Its aim is to contribute to the quality of life of people with ASD and their families and carers by providing multi-disciplinary diagnosis and assessment. Disciplines involved in diagnosis include Clinical Psychology. Psychiatric Nursing and an Autism Practitioner. Individuals will be signposted to appropriate services.
Assessment procedure: A half day or one-day diagnostic assessment, supported as necessary by baseline reports from all involved professionals.
Follow up service: Signposting to appropriate services.
Multi-disciplinary assessment: Yes - Clinical autism specialist, Psychological consultant.
