Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) Camden: we encourage partnership between parents, carers, schools, Camden Council's Children, Schools & Families Directorate (CSF) and other professional and voluntary groups. The important role of parents and carers as equal partners in their child’s education, is widely recognised and a key theme of the Service. SENDIASS Camden will provide support similar to that of the parent partnership service (PPS), although the type of support, and who is entitled to receive it, has been significantly expanded. SENDIASS key Points: It is a statutory service that provides information, advice and support to disabled children and young people, and those with special educational needs (SEN), and their parents; It is required to be impartial, accessible and free; Parents, children and young people should be involved in the design of their local SENDIASS Service through the local Parent Carer Forum and the Children and Young People’s Forum; Information, Advice and Support staff should be independently trained; The obligations and expectations of SENDIASS are set out in Chapter 2 of the special educational needs and disability (SEND) Code of Practice; The standards expected of SENDIASS can be found in the IASSN Quality Standards; and Literature regarding SENDIASS is provided to all schools and key agencies within Camden and is available directly from the service.
