Music therapy aims to promote social, communication and emotional development through shared music-making with a qualified therapist. It can help individuals with ASD/Asperger syndrome who struggle to communicate and build relationships or who lack self esteem. It can also help to address emotional difficulties such as anxiety, depression or distressed/challenging behaviour. Music therapy provides a non-verbal means for the individual to express themselves and develop self-awareness within a supportive relationship.
