Sheridan House
Main information
Type of service: Residential services
Sheridan House is a 9 bedded specialist unit for adults living with autism and moderate to severe learning disabilities. Sheridan House champions the rights of all people with autism and aims to provide the residents with advice and help and to support them in accessing activities and services which will make a positive difference to their lives. Residents are supported by staff and Brookdale's Speech & Language Therapists to develop augmented communication that provides them with choice and control on how they live their lives. This includes picture timetables, picture social stories and menu choices etc. The service likes to encourage independence skills and will support residents to help with cooking and daily tasks around the home. Each resident will have their own care plan bespoke to their needs and capabilities. The staff will encourage and support them to work towards gaining new skills and prompting independence. We provide robust care pathways enabling individuals living with autism, mental health and learning disabilities a variety of routes to independent living. From our therapeutic campus to residential care and supported living we specialise in providing care in a person's life. We also provide respite support services, to allow short breaks for full time carers or a 'between placements' service.
