Short Breaks Network
Main information
Type of service: Respite and short breaks, Service providers
Short Breaks Network is the only infrastructure charity in the UK working exclusively in the field of short breaks for disabled children, young people and their families. We are the national co-ordinating body for the short break sector working closely with; local authorities, voluntary sector and other short break providers, managers, commissioners, parents and practitioners. We share evidence informed good practice. We provide networking opportunities, targeted training, resources and consultancy, regional and national events and give a voice to the sector to influence policy around short breaks. The organisation was registered as a charity in March 1990. Today, Short Breaks Network represents services across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and work alongside our sister organisation, Shared Care Scotland. We are aware that the voice of the disabled child or young person can sometimes be un-heard so we are striving to include them in our work.
