Silver Birch (Scotland) Ltd provides work experience, training and employment in horticultural related activities including organic compost, organic soil feed, seasonal shrubs and plants. In addition the organisation are looking to offer a garden maintenance scheme. By attending Silver Birch, adults with learning disabilities have the opportunity to undertake work experience in the following areas: production of compost & bark; tending and maintaining plants; delivering products and dealing with customers; office administration; catering for client and staff lunches; and site maintenance. Throughout the clients time with Silver Birch we undertake regular reviews, assess their training requirements and employment skills progression. Support for the clients is provided by experienced support workers and managed by trained learning disability nurses. The organisation works closely with the Glasgow Learning Disability Partnership, East Dunbartonshire Council and other local authorities’ social work departments
