Snowflake School
Main information
Type of service: Day schools, Outreach - education, Schools, Respite and short breaks
Our organisation is for pupils aged 5-16 years of age. Pupils with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are educated in groups with other pupils with ASD and have access to mainstream classes if appropriate. Pupils will access the community ie libraries, park, gardens, shops and leisure centre etc. Families play a crucial role in the school and how we can all work together to support pupils with ASD. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. The school uses the Structure, Positive (approaches and expectations), Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL) framework. Another intervention, approach and programme offered by the school is verbal behaviour. We provide Bike and Scooter training as well. Snowflake school is an autism specific special school using applied behaviour analysis (ABA)/verbal behaviour teaching methodology.
