Special Yoga Ltd (formerly known as The Special Yoga Centre) is the UK home for Yoga for the Special Child. It offers one-to-one sessions for infants, children and young adults with a variety of conditions including autism, dyspraxia, attention deficit disorder/attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD) and other physical and development difficulties. As a registered charity its aim is to make yoga therapy available to every family who lives with special needs. For this reason, the sessions are offered on a donation basis ensuring that no family is turned away and that all children can benefit from the therapy, regardless of economic status. Offer one to one yoga sessions and a weekly group session for children/adolescents with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In addition, Special Yoga runs outreach yoga sessions in special and mainstream schools to support the well-being and learning of students with special needs. The centre also runs teacher training programmes providing the essential tools for teaching yoga to infants, children and adolescents with special needs. Special Yoga for the Special Child is for anyone interested in practising yoga therapy with these children including parents and carers, yoga teachers, special educational needs teachers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists (OTs), paediatric and rehabilitation nurses. The centre also offers short courses for teachers to learn how to support their classes with yoga.
