Type of service: Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)
CAMHS is a multi-disciplinary service providing specialist mental health services for children and young people with varying mental health issues. This includes children and young people on the autism spectrum, where there are concerns about the existence of additional mental health needs. Assessment of an autism spectrum disorder in the first instance would be directed to paediatric consultants in the Acute Trusts (Yeovil District Hospital for Taunton & Somerset and Bath RUH for the Mendip area). Referrals to the CAMHS team can be made by a wide range of professionals working directly with children and young people.
