The professional bodies they belong to are: the British Psychological Society, Health and Care Professions Council, Royal Society of Medicine and the Society of Expert Witnesses. The service provides diagnostic assessments using gold standard diagnostic tools coupled with psychometric assessment and, in children, school observations. We provide specialist assessment for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) across the age range, and across levels. There is particular expertise in Asperger syndrome, adult assessment, and assessment in females. We also provide expert reports for courts and educational tribunals, professional training in ASD, and advice and information to individuals and families. Spectrum has recently relocated to the North East after several years in Cambridgeshire. The service provides independent expert reports; make home visits; visit a client's nursery school or college; and attend tribunals/educational appeal committees. This is also a specialist diagnostic service for ASDs across the lifespan and function level. There is particular expertise in adult assessment and assessment of females. We also provide information and advice services to individuals and families, as well as professional training and expert witness reports. As a specialist service we usually see people who are already in the National Health Service (NHS) system and are referred from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), General Practitioner (GP), Council for Disabled Children (CDC), or adult Mental Health (MH) teams. However we are happy to discuss self referrals. They can help in court cases such as education, community care and forensic.
