The school is now part of a federation with St Lawrence School in Horncastle. Another special school. The federation is called the Lincolnshire Wolds Federation. St Bernard's is part of the Lincolnshire Specialist Outreach Service accredited by The National Autistic Society (NAS) for delivering outreach for social communication difficulties, including autism. The federation is also accredited with the Aim for Lincs Autism award, from the local authority. A day/residential special school for pupils with severe learning difficulties (SLD). Pupils with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are educated both throughout the school and in specific groups/classes. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. This is by interview and Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) clearance is essential. Emergency, holiday and planned respite services are also open to pupils from other schools in Lincolnshire outside the school by social care only.
