Main information
Type of service: Day schools, Nursery and pre-schools, Schools
St Clement's is sited near the town centre which gives access to local amenities such as the library and leisure centre. The roll of the school is made up of pupils with special educational needs (SEN), some of whom suffer from multiple disorders. The school aims to provide a caring community within which pupils can develop their potential in physical, moral, spiritual, social, intellectual and creative terms. It aims to provide experiences which enable the children to gain self awareness and confidence which will enable them to become caring and responsible members of society; to develop links with the community and thus increase awareness of pupils with special needs and demonstrate their contribution to and worth within society; to foster links with parents and enable them to feel partners in their child's education; to provide as many varied experiences and opportunities as possible to enable the pupils to function with maximum independence in the community and to encourage necessary skills for daily living; and to develop links with other schools and encourage worthwhile integration - thus helping to make other children accept pupils with special needs. Volunteers to work with the pupils are sometimes accepted.
